More About EPGBA
The Eden Prairie Girl’s Basketball Association (EPGBA) is an all volunteer group of Eden Prairie citizens who help girls from the 2nd through 12th grade learn and participate in the game of basketball.
The EPGBA provides an in house and a travel program as well as numerous player and coaches clinics, tournaments and other events to promote and support the girl’s basketball experience in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
The in house basketball program starts out with a non-competitive clinic for second graders that runs once a week for approximately 8 weeks starting in January. The 3rd-12th grade in house programs include a weekly practice and officiated games usually played on Saturdays. Registrations for the 3rd through 8th grade teams begin in September with the season beginning in early December. Registrations for the 9th through 12th grade teams begin in December with the season beginning in January.
For student athletes looking for a more competitive brand of basketball we offer a Travel Program that starts in the 5th grade and runs through the 8th grade. Registrations begin in August. The travel program requires student athletes to try out and commit to two practices a week and weekend games and tournament play. Coaches, including both non-parent paid and parent volunteers, for the Travel Program are selected through a rigorous selection process.
The EPGBA is governed by a board of directors that meets every third Sunday of the month (except November, December and February) to conduct its business. The time and location of regular board meetings are posted on the EPGBA website. Anyone interested in contributing to the girl’s basketball program in Eden Prairie is welcome to attend board meetings. We are always looking for volunteers to help make the basketball experience for our student athletes a continuous success. Contact one of the EPGBA officers (see Contacts on the left) for more information.
