Information for Half-time Scrimmage Teams

In-House teams have the opportunity to scrimmage during halftime of an EPHS Girls home varsity basketball game.  This is a great opportunity for the athletes to play on the ‘big kid’ court in front of the high school players, parents and coaches.  The kids really seem to enjoy the atmosphere of playing in front of a crowd.

Here is how it works:

  1. Please bring a roster of your team and a game ball.
  2. Prior to tip-off bring the roster over the scorer’s table and let the announcer know you are with the EPGBA In-house program and scrimmaging at half-time.  Hand her your roster so that she can make the announcement.
  3. 5 minutes prior to start of halftime, gather your team outside in the hallway, but not in the way of the exiting players. Please have the initial starters ready to play.  Also, decide among the coaches who will take the ball out first.  There will be no jump ball.
  4. As soon as halftime horn goes off guide the teams onto to the floor for scrimmaging and began play.  Teams will have approx. 7-8 minutes to play.
  5. Subs are informal, try to let each girl play half of the time where possible.
  6. The PA announcer can commentate if available.
  7. Scrimmage ceases when either varsity team comes out of the locker room.

Please check your team schedule for your specific game date and time.

Information for Spotlight Teams

Travel teams will be highlighted as the Spotlight team at an EPHS Girls home varsity basketball game.  This is a great opportunity for our players to be a part of the high school game, visit the pregame locker room and support their Mentors.

Here is how it works:

  1. Please bring a copy of your roster with you.
  2. 45 minutes prior to the start of the game, gathered on the bleachers behind the varsity bench.  An escort form the mentoring committee will meet you there.
  3. Once Coach Wiese is ready to go into the locker room for the pregame talk, the escort will lead the Team in and show them where to sit. Please remember to stay quiet during meeting.
  4. Team will come out of the locker room with Varsity team; and will cheer them onto floor.
  5. The Team will then sit on the varsity bench during warmups.
  6. Escort will have given list of names to PA announcer.
  7. PA announcer will call out Spotlight team names and coaches along with their Mentors
  8. Team will go into hallway with Varsity team about 3 minutes before horn goes off for last minute instructions.
  9. Spotlight team stands with Varsity during national anthem
  10. Spotlight team gets into line, cheering the starters as they are announced
