EPGBA Travel basketball program is designed to give 4th-8th grade players who live and/or attend school in Eden Prairie, the opportunity to play against stronger competition.
The season typically begins the second week of October and ends with the annual MYAS Gopher State Tournament, typically held the first week of March. Players participate in a 2-day tryout process in early/mid-September. Teams will practice on average, 2-3 times per week, for 90 minutes. Practice times and days of the week will vary among each team. Teams will also participate in 8-10 weekend tournaments throughout the season. Majority of practices are held at EPHS during the week. All players are expected to bring their own basketball to practice. Tournaments are scheduled throughout the metro area and may involve travel on occasion out of the metro area. All travel teams participate in one "away" tournament in Rochester, MN. This tournament takes place in late February.
By participating on a travel basketball team, it is expected that players will be dedicated to the team and their teammates. Practice and tournament/game attendance is mandatory. Parents shall communicate all planned and unplanned absences with the coach, so they can properly prepare their practice plans and game plans accordingly.
