The purpose of the Rookie League is to provide a fun environment for developing a strong skill based foundation into the game of basketball. Fundamentals are introduced thru entertaining games and drills designed to provide participants with a core foundation to the game.
The Rookie League focuses on many of the primary skills and drills that your daughters will see throughout all levels of the Eden Prairie Girls Basketball Program.
When and Where Do The Kids Practice/Play?
The season will run from mid-December to the last week of February. Rookie League will practice Monday night at one of the elementary schools in Eden Prairie. Practice will run from 6:00-7:00 PM (last 15 minutes are open play/shooting).
Registration opens in early August and closes early December. Any registrations after registration closes will be placed on a waitlist. Any kids on a wait list are not guaranteed team placement. No player will be allowed to participate in practices/games until ALL fees are paid. Financial assistance is available for those in need on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our Treasurer for more information
For the EPGBA to run a successful basketball program, Parents are encouraged to volunteer in helping the girls thru the drills when available.
Many of the sessions will also be assisted by various teams from our girls Travel Program. Past feedback has shown that this interaction and instruction has been a highlight for many of the rookie league participants.
We are also looking for volunteers to serve as grade level commissioners to help coordinate the league.
Each player will receive a T-shirt and a junior-sized basketball. Players should bring their basketball and waterbottle to practices.
$90 per player (K), $0 per player (Pre-K)
