The purpose of the 7th & 8th grade program is to provide a fun and competitive environment for girls to continue to improve on the fundamentals of the game. Girls in 7th & 8th grade participate in the West Metro recreational league. The league currently consists of teams from Chaska/Chanhassen, Edina, and Wayzata.
However, Outside teams will not be allowed to play in our gyms. The current rule is that 75% of the participants on any court must be from EP. Therefore, Therefore, 5-8th grade teams are still assessing if our teams can participate in the West Metro league without hosting games on Saturdays. If not, teams will only play other EP teams this year.
When and Where Do the Kids Practice/Play?
7th and 8th grade will practice Thursday nights at Oak Point in Eden Prairie. Thursday practices will rotate between either a 6:15 or 7:30 pm start time and will last 60 minutes. Games for the West Metro league are played on Saturdays in Wayzata and/or Chaska/Chanhassen.
Registration opens October 19th 8:00 AM and closes Tuesday, November 3rd 11:59 PM. Registration will be limited to 34 players. Any kids on a wait list are not guaranteed team placement. No player will be allowed to participate in practices/games until ALL fees are paid. Financial assistance is available for those in need on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our Treasurer for more information.
Given current COVID Requirements, NO parents/spectators will be allowed in the gyms. Please see our volunteer opportunities below.
Combined 7th & 8th teams will be formed based in-house evaluations to determine the basic skill level of each girl. Evaluations will take place during the last day of the In-House Clinics.
During registration, each player is allowed one play-with request. A play-with request must be mutual between two players. There is no guarantee of placement on the same team.
Teams will be limited to 8-9 players per team.
