COVID-19 Impact

The health and well-being of our athletes remains our top priority. In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 entering our environment and spreading amongst our community and to ensure complaince with EP Schools rental requirements, EPGBA has established a set of COVID-19 Procedures. Below are a few key items:

  • All coaches and players will be required to wear masks upon entering and exiting the buildings. Coaches will continue to wear masks during practices and games. Current policies allow players to remove their face coverings during activities.
  • NO parents or spectators will be allowed at practices or games.
  • There is a limit of 25 people per court max capacityThis includes all players and all adults (coaches, parent on duty, etc). This applies for both practices and games.
  • Outside teams will not be allowed to play in our gyms.  The current rule is that 75% of the participants on any court must be from EP.  Therefore, for 5-8th grade teams we are still assessing if our teams can participate in the West Metro league without hosting games. If not, teams will only play other EP teams this year.
  • Please know that if the district or a school building enters into distance learning mode due to COVID-19 outbreaks and/or the local case numbers rise into the zone of mandatory distance learning, all facility rentals will be shut down. The district will decide when rentals can resume.

We recognize that this is not ideal, but we are doing our best to keep EPBGA players and families safe while also playing basketball.

Volunteer Opportunities

In order to run a successful 2020-21 In-House program and to ensure there is adequate supervision and enough adults present to assist with implementation and enforcement of EPGBA’s COVID-19 safety procedures we are in need of volunteers for Grade Level Commissioners, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers.  Signup for these can be completed through your player's registration.

We will also be seeking Team Parents on Duty for all practices and games once teams are formed.

See our In-House Volunteer tab for more information.

Refund Policy for 2020-21 Season

Our EPGBA’s desire is to not take a significant financial loss if we do have to cancel prior to completion of the season. So, if we were to cancel prior to playing a full season, we would give a pro-rated refund based upon our actual total expenses we have incurred.

EPGBA COVID-19 Procedures

The health and well-being of our athletes remains our top priority. In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 entering our environment and spreading amongst our community, EPGBA has established a set of COVID-19 Procedures. Below are the top 7 things to remember as you come to practice:

  1. If you are feeling sick, have any symptoms, getting tested, or have been in contact with someone that has tested positive – STAY home.
  2. Bring your own basketball and a filled water bottle. Water fountains will not be available in the gym.
  3. You MUST wear a mask when entering and exiting the gym. Players may take off their face covering once the level of exertion makes it hard to wear a face covering. When done with exertion activities, players must put mask back on upon leaving the building.
  4. Arrive NO more than 5 minutes early and be on time. Clear the court as soon as practice is over.
  5. Use the nearby hands-free sanitize stations or bring your own.
  6. Social distance on the sidelines and court when not participating in drills or scrimmages.
  7. Non-players (parents, spectators, etc.) are not be allowed in Eden Prairie Facilities.
